Honor & Shame, Unlocking the
Door
This book is now included as part of Roland
Muller's new book: The Messenger, the
Message and the Community. However, in order to serve
schools and seminaries which use this book for required reading,
it is still possible to by the electronic version. This is the
book which first introduces Roland Muller's model of woldview
using the concepts of guilt, fear and shame, showing their development
over the years, and their influence on our understanding of the
gospel message. Roland Muller also demonstrates how the 10/40
windows is made up almost exclusively of shame based cultures.
He then examines the way we traditionally present the gospel,
and the difficulties this poses for those from a shame/honor
background.
We are then presented with a case study based
on the Muslim cultures of the Middle East, where he examines
Islam in the light of shame and honor. In conclusion Roland Muller
presents us with the three-fold message of the gospel which is
understandable in whatever cultural setting we may work in.
The materials in this book are original and

"Muller's book on
"Honor and Shame" received rave reviews by professors and missionaries across the world. This book is one
of the best single volume presentations for preparation for being an evangelist
with Muslims."
Dr. Joshua
Lingel, Executive Director, i2 Ministries
"This book is a must read for anyone ministering
in a 10/40 Window culture. Bridging the gap of understanding,
it informs the Western missionary of a guilt-innocence worldview
about how shame-honor worldviews function and how crucial it
is to understand this aspect to effectively minister in such
contexts. Through a well developed and helpful case study of
the Muslim cultural expression of the shame-honor worldview,
Muller provides an excellent resource to enable the Western missionary
to more effectively understand and reach Muslims for Christ."

"Roland Müller’s Honor and Shame
gives current and prospective cross-cultural workers an invaluable
tool for understanding cultural responses to the gospel. Müller
breaks down old paradigms and unlocks key concepts to let readers
see the world's response to sin through fear, guilt, and shame.
Cross-cultural change agents ought to read this book before ever
setting foot on the field."
